A temporary traffic diversion activated today to facilitate road works at the San Fernando General Hospital is expected to end by tomorrow afternoon, according to a new advisory from the Ministry of Works and Transport.

In the advisory, the Ministry explains that the temporary traffic diversion is along Lady Hailes Avenue—between the San Fernando General Hospital Accident and Emergency Entrance and the Hatters Panyard.

It is advising motorists to utilise Independence Avenue as the alternative route.

The diversion was put into effect at 8:30 am today, Wednesday 9 December 2020, to facilitate underground ducting construction.

The Ministry says it should end by 5 pm tomorrow, Thursday 10 December 2020.

Motorists are asked to drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone, proceeding with caution, and observing all directional signs and barriers.  They should be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site.

Motorists also should comply with instructions from Police Officers on site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic.
