THA Finance Division’s ‘party’ video causes stir

Chief Secretary Ancil Dennis says he will look into a widely shared video labeled ‘Finance is the best Division.’

The video clip purportedly shows workers at the Tobago House of Assembly’s Finance Division dancing at a party.

Guardian Media understands the celebration took place on Friday as part of an activity for the annual Finance Month.

The clip shows close to 100 people in an office setting, some sitting at tables, others standing, singing, and banging on tables.

To the strains of nursery rhymes, like ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any wool’, the persons- many not wearing masks and none social distancing- sing lustily.

The camera pans from left to right, capturing the action of the persons sitting at different tables and others moving from group to group.

Guardian Media reached out to Dennis for comment on the video.

“First time I am seeing this …I’ll ask some questions. I am unable to positively identify any individual or the location in the video,” Dennis says.

Last Saturday, at a press conference in Tobago, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said there are to be no Christmas parties in the public sector in 2020.

He reiterated the need to wear masks and social distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
