Police have arrested three people in connection with a murder which occurred on Tuesday night, in the Beecham Cocoa area of Belmont.

According to a police report, at about 8:50 pm, police officers were on patrol when they responded to a report of gunshots in the vicinity of B & B’s Parlour. There, they found the body of a man, who reportedly had been shot multiple times.

Police report that the victim was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers returned to the scene where they observed a blue Nissan Almera speeding off.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which did not stop. A chase reportedly then ensued.

The vehicle subsequently was intercepted at the St Ann’s Roundabout. Police found one man in the car. He was said to be bleeding from a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded under police guard.

Two other people who were in the vehicle were taken to the Besson Street Police Station for further questioning.

The Belmont victim, up to press time on Wednesday, is yet to be positively identified.
