Three persons were arrested and a firearm and quantities of
ammunition and marijuana seized by officers of the Eastern
Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted Sangre
Grande yesterday.
Officers conducted the exercise between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm, on during which they proceeded to NorthEastern Settlement, Sangre Grande.
According to police reports, during the exercise, officers conducted several searches which resulted in a 32-year-old man of Sangre Grande being held for possession of a quantity of marijuana.
A second male suspect, a 32-year-old, also of the area, was held after one Ruger pistol fitted with a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition were found hidden in his house.
The third male suspect, a 26-year-old man, also of Sangre Grande, was arrested for possession of a quantity of marijuana.
Investigations are ongoing.
The exercise included officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal
Investigations Department, the Special Operations Unit,
Community Police, Court and Process Branch, Eastern Division
Task Force, Areas South and North, the Mayaro and Manzanilla
Police Stations and the Canine Unit.
