Three killed on Monday

Three people were killed on Monday in two separate incidents at Tunapuna and Arima.
In the first incident, two people who were shot during a drive-by shooting in Tunapuna on Monday evening died.

According to a police report, at about 7:30 pm four people were liming at the corner of Stratham Lodge Street and O’Keefe Street when a white Nissan Almera registration number unknown drove up to them and stopped alongside them. The occupants of the vehicle opened fire injuring the four of them. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries while undergoing emergency treatment, while the other died at the scene.

Two others who were also shot and wounded are currently in critical condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. The deceased victims have been identified as Vaugh Derrick Charles, 68, of Light Pole Lovell Trace, Tunapuna and Josiah Copeland, 19, of 1st Trace Tunapuna. He died while being treated at the EWMSC.


In an unrelated incident, at about 11:45 am on Monday Shaquille Pereira, 25, of Cross Trace, Brasso, Paria was at By-Pass Road, Arima in the vicinity of River Lime Ranch when a white van pulled up and one man came out of the vehicle holding a firearm. The man pointed the firearm at the victim and fired several rounds hitting him. The victim ran off in an easterly direction and fell to the ground a short distance away. He was taken by officers of the Arima Municipal Police to the Arima Health Facility where he succumbed to his injuries.
