Three men shot in two unrelated incidents

Two men were shot and wounded in Laventille on Monday.

According to a police, between 4:30 pm and 5 pm one of the two victims – a 37-year-old man told police that while they were in the vicinity of Erica Street and Rock City Road a red car was seen proceeding in a northern direction from Fatman Hill and on reaching the corner its occupants opened fire. He was shot on the right foot above the ankle area. The other victim was also shot and wounded.

They were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they were both treated. Police said one of the victims is in stable condition while the other underwent surgery and is in a serious condition.

In an unrelated incident, a 50-year-old man of Windy Hill, Arouca was shot to the lower chest and is currently in a critical condition.

Police said at about 11am on Monday, the first responders went to Windy Hill Arouca, relative to a broadcast from Command Centre that “a man who was shot”.

Upon arrival they saw a Silver Nissan B14, registration PBE 4990, in a drain off the roadway.

The officers upon further examination saw blood stains on the drivers’ door, right side back door, driver seat and steering wheel. The officers interviewed several people who indicated that the vehicle belonged to the victim.

The victim was taken to the Arima Health Facility for medical treatment where he was prepped and transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
