Two men and a woman are scheduled to appear at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court today, after being charged with larceny offences totalling $435,000.

An official statement from the Police Service says they were arrested and charged yesterday, Monday 12 July 2021.

SHANEIL HOSEIN and VANESSA SAM, both of Freeport, along with SHELLFORD ROBERTS (also known as Kumar Maraj and Shiva Maraj) of San Fernando, were arrested after extensive investigations carried out by the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The TTPS states that three people reported that they allegedly paid money to the suspects after being led to believe that they were associated with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and could acquire houses on their behalf. It was later discovered that they were not associated with the organisation and therefore not authorised to conduct transactions for, or on behalf of the HDC.

Searches were conducted after the arrests were made and $17,000 cash along with a BMW vehicle were seized in connection with another investigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).

Additional charges are expected to be laid upon the completion of that investigation.

Investigations were supervised by ASP Dipchand and charges were laid by PC Meah of the Chaguanas CID.
