Thirty-seven-year-old Akini Quashie was granted $30,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Joanne Connor, at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with assault by beating. Quashie was also ordered to stay 100 feet away from the victim. The following is a press release from the TTPS:
A 37- year-old Linesman from Mt Thomas, Tobago was granted bail in the sum of $30,000 or a cash alternative of $3000, when he appeared before Magistrate Joanne Connor, at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Wednesday 20th October,2021.
AKINI QUASHIE, was charged with Assault by beating and was ordered to stay 100 feet away from the victim and not to communicate with her. The Linesman of Main Road, Mt. Thomas, was held, after a woman made a report to the Scarborough Police Station on 12th August, 2021.
The report stated that on August 12th 2021 Quashie held onto a woman and attempted to choke her. WPC KERR of the Special Victims Department., Tobago conducted an investigation into the matter which resulted in the arrest and subsequent charge of the linesman on October 20th 2021.
The accused is expected to appear at the Tobago Magistrates’ Court on 17th November, 2021 to answer the charge. Investigations were supervised by Ag ASP Francis and Insp Williams of
the Special Victims Department.
