Tobago man shot dead by off duty cop

A Tobago man was shot dead by an off duty police officer on Sunday.

Two other men were hospitalised following the incident.

The shooting incident occurred at Crown Point, near the Jade Monkey Bar, shortly before 10 pm.

The victim has been identified as Keron Sealy also known as Myrex of Milford Court, Bon Accord.

Eye witnesses told Guardian Media that Sealy had an altercation with another man, identfied as Kenel Alleyne 19, of Hope and was chasing him in the roadway with a cutlass, in attempt to chop him.

Investigators saidAlleyne ran in the roadway and was hit by a car, causing him to sustain a broken foot, he also sustained chop wounds to his chest.

It is alleged that the off duty police officer, who socialising with friends nearby, shouted at Sealy to desist, but he ignored him.

The officer reportedly fired warning shots, but Sealy continued chopping Alleyne. The police officer then shot him, the report said.

Sealy was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators recovered a cutlass at the scene.

Another man, identified as Frankie James 34, of Canaan, was also allegedly shot in the stomach by a stray bullet.

He is warded at the Scarborough General Hospital in a critical , but stable condition.

Alleyne is also warded in a serious, but stable condition.

Crown Point Police are continuing investigations.
