Residents of Glen Road, Scarborough, staged a protest in front of the Tobago prison at Montessori Drive on Friday morning, demanding the removal of the facility which they claim was “sneaked” into their village on Saturday.
In keeping with COVID -19 rules and regulations that no more than ten persons congregate in a public space, a handful of residents turned up for the march.
One resident said it is “disrespectful” that the jail was “sneaked” into the village. Told that acting Prison Commissioner Dennis Pulchan said it was a low-risk facility as no murderers or violent crime offenders were placed there, the elderly woman, Cheryl Morrison, said that does not matter.
“Low risk or high risk, move the prison,” she declared.
