Thirteen-year-old Bishop’s High School student Tori Isaac has made all of Tobago proud as she topped the 2020 Caribbean Examination Council’s Mathematics exam at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) level. She also obtained a Grade 1 in English in the same examination.

She is one of the school’s six students, who placed in the top ten in the regional examination despite online schooling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Isaac, now 14, wrote the examination in the second form as a private candidate assisted by her tutor Melony Trim.

The school’s principal Cindy Ramnarine applauded all six students and their families.

She said the school’s youngest scholar has represented the school to the fullest.

“Tori has embodied, like our other students who have performed so well here, the mission of the school to develop well-rounded students. In Tori’s case, she has been involved in school life and representing us in netball. We see and celebrate Tori’s achievement as an inspiration to all Tobago children that you can achieve whatever you set your heart to.”

Ramnarine also said the school will continue to nurture and lead the students to greater achievements.

Isaac’s mom, Valerie George, said the 14-year-old is also involved in the drama group Rhythmic Vibrations.

She said she is proud of Isaac, who is focused, sets goals, and goes after achieving them.

“My daughter is disciplined and does her work. She is quite normal. All my daughter told me when she heard what she had achieved is that she is thankful, happy, and humbled by it.”

The mother of three advised parents to seek the best for their children, especially during the pandemic, and create a suitable environment.

“Be your children’s guide and their motivator. Be consistent and persistent and guide them.”

The other top-performing students at Bishop’s High School in the 2020 CXC examinations are Debra Amata, Rynesha King, Sade Lauren Martin and Gabrielle Murray, and Phoebe Garner.

Garner copped two top ten places for her performance in Principles of Accounts and Food and Nutrition.
