In December 2021, as part of its 30th edition, the UTC introduced a new online format to the Schools’ Investment GameUTC Jeopardy—to generate more excitement and have a broader appeal.

Schools formed their teams and competed for three weeks.  Nine secondary schools had battled for a spot at the finals, with the final two competing schools facing-off in a debate on investment and finance topics.

When this edition of the games ended in January 2022, Presentation College had defeated Holy Name Convent Couva, with their four-member team each receiving the gift of units valued at TT$2,500, as well as new laptops.

Another noteworthy development is that for the first time in its history, primary schools were invited to compete in the Schools’ Investment Game.

Along with his school, Trinidad Renaissance’s winning student, Aiden Alejandro Rampersad, received the gift of units valued at TT$2,500 and TT$1,000, respectively, along with new laptops.

At the prize presentation held at the respective winning schools, there was sheer excitement as celebrations erupted from the students and teachers. Primary school teacher at Trinidad Renaissance, Ms. Anushka Maharaj, expressed delight at the game’s expansion to primary schools.

UTC’s Schools’ Investment Game was first launched in 1991 as a unique and fun approach to introduce secondary schools to the world of investing.  Thirty years later, the game continues to have an educational impact on students throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
