They say there is something good that always comes out of a bad situation.
For 39-year-old Raymond James, this adage manifested in the sole creation of the Package Pally— a delivery box James invented to protect packages and deliveries from theft or damage.
His invention falls under Parcel Security Apparatus in the US Patent System.
James formerly from Point Fortin, and residing in the US since 18, invented the Package Pally after an Amazon package he ordered online, was stolen off his front porch in Jacksonville, Florida.
“I looked online, did a patent search and saw no one had anything like it, so I made a prototype in my garage and applied for a patent. The problem of package theft is a multimillion-dollar problem that needs to be solved. That’s why I invented Package Pally,” said the Chaguanas Senior Secondary School alumnus.
In a recent speech James gave on his invention, he noted in the past year alone, 26 million people in the US had their medicine, electronics and documents stolen right off their doorsteps by a porch pirate.
The Florida State College graduate who studied biomedical engineering and technology said Package Pally works by hooking it over or under one’s door. One can also choose to attach the invention permanently to one’s door.
But whatever the choice, James guaranteed one thing was certain—one’s package would remain safe.
To demonstrate how the Package Pally is used, James has posted several videos to the Package Pally Facebook page with short tutorials and pictures of both its interior and exterior.
One can also find videos of actual deliveries by reputable delivery services like UPS and FedX, using the Package Pally delivery box to place deliveries.
While the cost of the Package Pally, was still being determined as James said he was working on getting manufacturing, the feedback on his invention he said, had been awesome.
“I am currently in talks with manufacturers and licensing companies in order to bring it to the market. When it is available for sale with prices I will let everyone know,” said James.
As for any more signature inventions by James coming on stream, he said: “Yes, I will be inventing other things soon, and have other inventions in mind, as I am constantly working on solving problems.”
