The following is an official statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, concerning the interception of a vessel, the arrest of several foreign and Trinidad nationals, and the seizure of several suspicious, large packages, in the early hours of Sunday 28 June 2020…

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO COAST GUARD INTERCEPTS VESSEL AND
SEIZES LARGE PACKAGES OF PLANT LIKE SUBSTANCE

On 28 June 2020, at 2:34 am while conducting border security patrols, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) intercepted a vessel in the Gulf-of-Paria.

There were three (3) foreign nationals and two (2) Trinidadian nationals on board the vessel.

Searches of the vessel revealed five (5) large packages which contained a green plant like substance.

The vessel, its contents and the persons were handed over to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Customs and Excise Division and Immigration Division.

Investigations are continuing.
