Trinidad and Tobago currently are under a Yellow Level Hazardous Seas Alert, which is expected to be in effect for the entire weekend and into Monday morning.

The areas to be impacted the most are coastal and offshore waters around Tobago as well as all exposed coastlines of Trinidad.

An advisory issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) warns that sea conditions will be agitated over the weekend and are expected to become rough, with wave heights averaging 2.5 metres—occasionally peaking up to 3.5 metres—along affected areas.  Sea conditions in sheltered areas will be choppy at times.

As such, the TTMS is advising all marine interests to exercise extreme caution.  Also, citizens are urged to monitor sea conditions before venturing out, and to heed warnings of lifeguards and other relevant authorities.
