Phase 2 of the ‘Vaccinate to Operate’ COVID-19 vaccination drive for the business community begins today, Thursday 24 June 2021.

An advisory from the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA) states that the TTMA has been allocated a further 5,000 vaccines, which will be administered this week at the Divali Nagar Site.

The ‘Vaccinate to Operate’ COVID-19 Vaccination Drive is a joint initiative led by the TTMA, with the support of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).

President of the TTMA, Tricia Coosal, observed that “this continued public-private partnership between TTMA and the Government, is an indication of Government’s confidence in TTMA to play a very important role in ‘vaccination for the nation’.”

“TTMA continues to stand ready to execute vaccination drives to support Government’s national policy to encourage persons to get vaccinated. This will lead to a safer work environment for all when the economy is reopened. It is important we take all the steps necessary to move forward in a positive direction during this pandemic,” the TTMA president said.

She added: “TTMA, in partnership with T&T Medical Association and SEWA TT International, has developed an effective and efficient template for the execution of mass vaccination drives. To date TTMA has successfully executed four vaccination drives with the administration of approximately 7,500 vaccinations. This is a turning point for the business community as this sector is on a good start to offer employees a safe working environment.”

Tricia Coosal also commended all volunteers in both TTMA’s phase 1 and phase 2 vaccination drives, namely volunteers from T&T Medical Association and SEWA TT International, noting their service to the TTMA drives, as well as to for other vaccination drives across the country.

“They continue to give of their time generously to the nation,” she said, “Their effort and energy to TTMA must be applauded as there is always a smile despite the long volunteer workdays. TTMA is truly grateful for their noble efforts and their steadfast commitment to the nationals of Trinidad and Tobago. These volunteers are the embodiment of ‘We are All in this Together… Proudly T&T’,” the TTMA president stated.

Phase 2 of the ‘Vaccinate to Operate’ COVID-19 vaccination drive continues today through the weekend, at the Divali Nagar site in Chaguanas.
