TTMS monitoring tropical depression

A Tropical Wave east of the Lesser Antilles being monitored by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has intensified to a Tropical Depression. In a press release issued this morning, the TTMS stated that some slight strengthening is forecasted during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today. However, the TTMS says that this system poses no threat to Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada and its Dependencies. The following is the full press release from the TTMS:

A Tropical Wave east of the Lesser Antilles, which the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has been closely monitoring, has now intensified into Tropical Depression Ten. At. 5 a.m. this morning, Tropical Depression Ten was centred near 14.0N 49.9W, located approximately 1320 km east-southeast of the Leeward Islands.

The system is moving towards the north-northwest near 11 km/hr and a general northward motion over the next several days is expected. On this forecast track, the system is expected to move into the open Atlantic, well to the east of the Lesser Antilles.

Some slight strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today. We wish to underscore that this system poses no threat to Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada and its Dependencies.
