Jenelle Thongs, 29, left her mark and represented Trinidad and Tobago proudly at the Miss Supranational 2021 in Nowy Sacz, Malopolska, Poland. Details follow in this press release.

From a bustling family oriented community of Morvant in the beautiful twin island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Jenelle Thongs becomes the darling of the 12th Miss Supranational stage, and her journey to Supra is awe inspiring.

A resounding cheer swept across Trinidad & Tobago last Saturday 21st August at around 2:30PM when Jenelle Thongs (29) was announced in as semi-finalist placing in the Top 24 out of 58 women from across the world at the Amphitheatre in Nowy Sacz, Malopolska, Poland. Jen, as she’s affectionately known, becomes the fifth Trinbagonian to compete at the Big 5 pageant, wearing the sash of Trinidad & Tobago proudly – following in the footsteps of Yia-Loren Gomez (2019) who also made it to the semi-final round of the competition.

The 29-year-old beauty from Morvant, Trinidad dominated the competition from the get-go. She was the third contestant to advance to the Top 24 after winning the coveted Supra-Chat competition alongside Miss Venezuela. Jenelle sailed through the competition with high placements in the weeks leading up to the preliminary rounds which placed her at the forefront of the mega production as one of the spotted talents this year. After sixteen long months of preparation, the 5’ 9’’ tall beauty and graduate of the University of the West Indies wowed the judges and audience with her grace, poise, charismatic personality armed with her sharpest tool, a bright, winning smile! She automatically became the ‘big sister’ of the competition but this did not prevent Miss Thongs from performing with outstanding achievements.

Among her noteworthy wins this year are:

Top 5 Talent Finals

Top 10 Supra Influencer Competition

Top 2 Supra-Model Caribbean

National Costume Finalist

Winner, Supra Chat Episode 8

Winner of Supra Chat Semi Final Group 2

Winner, Miss Supranational Interview 2021

However, many believe that it was her confident and heart wrenching response to last year’s winner and host Antonia Porxild’s question about what message she would say to the person watching and listening about climate change:

“This is a call for all humanity,’’ she began as she pierced directly into the camera lens. ‘’You can change your address to down the street, you can move to Poland (jokingly), but what you can’t change is that at the end of the day, you are still going to be stuck here on earth. We have to make a conscious decision to make this a better place not only for ourselves but for our children and our children’s children. We don’t have that much time left so we need to make that change now.’’ she told Porxild. ‘’This is home. You are home, (pointing at the Queen host), we are home and we need to take better care of this place. It is our duty as a citizen of earth.

’’Jenelle’s journey to Miss Supranational began when she was crowned Miss Trinidad & Tobago at our venue sponsor The Anchorage Convention Centre, Chaguaramas on 1 November, 2020 at a closed door filming.

“We’ve watched Jen’s journey from entering Miss Supranational Trinidad & Tobago to conquering many personal obstacles and pandemic woes with awe,” said Stephen Jones, Crowns and Sashes Executive Director. “Her courage and determination has been an inspiration to many across the country – and now the world!”

Jenelle returns home to resume her full time job as a Dental Practice Manager while she continues her reign for the next year as Miss Supranational Trinidad & Tobago 2021. During this time, look out for more updates on the roll out of her ‘From the Ground Up’ Community Service Initiative: Bridge The Gap, a social integration life skills programme especially tailored to suit the needs of the young women resident at the St. Jude’s School for Girls, Belmont.

On behalf of Crowns and Sashes, producers of the Miss Supranational Trinidad & Tobago pageant and the people of Trinidad and Tobago, here and across the world, we take this opportunity to publicly thank Miss Thongs for her stellar contributions to the organization and to the country. We also thank all of our sponsors, collaborators, volunteers, staff members (particularly the team at the Miss Supranational T&T Franchise) and all supporters online who helped to make this Journey of 1.4 Million Strong – worthwhile.
