Tobago police are probing the circumstances surrounding a double murder in the village of Les Coteaux, the first homicide recorded on the island for 2020. The victims have been identified as brothers Kelton James 39, of Spring Trace, Darrell Spring and Kenwyn James, 32, of Ginnea Hill, Patience Hill.
Police reports stated that the incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Friday, near the Wise Choice Supermarket in Les Coteaux.
Guardian Media understands that the men had just left their sister’s home at James Avenue, Tablepiece, Les Coteaux and were heading south along Providence Road in a Hyundai H-100 vehicle when they were accosted by three men with whom they had an altercation with previously. The brothers exited the vehicle and were approaching the men, who opened fire on them, hitting them in their upper body. They died on the spot. The assailants escaped on foot.
District Medical Officer Dr Kumar visited the scene and ordered the bodies removed to the Scarborough Hospital Mortuary.
This brings to two the number of murders recorded in Tobago for 2020.
The Tobago Homicide Bureau is continuing investigations.
