Two men have been charged with stealing cattle in the Barrackpore area.
Arjoon Rampersad, 38, of Mandingo, and Ashook Gosine, 57, of Cunjal, were charged on Monday.
The charges were in relation to lost, stolen, or strayed animals that occurred on the following dates:
• April 14, 2020: One goat valued at TT$2,500.
• May 15, 2020: Three sheep valued at TT$4,500.
• May 16, 2020: Two goats valued at TT$5,000.
• May 17, 2020: Three sheep valued at TT$4,200.
A police service statement said Rampersad was held on May 23, after attempting to take one sheep from a property located on Cunjal Road, Barrackpore.
Officers immediately responded and the sheep was recovered and returned to its owner.
Rampersad was arrested and taken to the Barrackpore Police Station. He was later charged with four additional counts of larceny cattle after further inquiries were conducted.
Gosine was arrested the following day and charged with one count of larceny cattle.
Inquiries were conducted and the arrests were made by Sgt. Victor, Cpl. Bisnath, PC Rampersad, PC Sankar.
They were later charged by PC Ramsuchit.
Investigations were conducted by WPC Pierre, PC Ross, WPC Battersby and PC Harripersad.
