What was either an attempted hit on—or an armed robbery attempt of—an off-duty police officer, ended with two fatalities on Lady Chancellor Road on Wednesday night.

It was two of the attackers and not the police officer, however, who were shot dead, while a third accomplice is at hospital in critical condition.

The officer is safe.

According to police reports, around 7 pm, an off-duty police officer was jogging on Lady Chancellor Road when an armed man, who came out of a vehicle, shot at him.

The officer shot back at the assailant, hitting him.

Two accomplices then attempted to flee the scene but were also shot.

Two of the three men were accounted for last night—one dead and one critically injured at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Police found the body of the third man at the bottom of a hill, just off Lady Chancellor Road.
