Two men, ages 19 and 23, are expected to be charged for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking following a routine traffic stop in Freeport yesterday. Police are currently looking for a third suspect.
According to police reports, at 3:00 pm on August 28th PCs Mohammed and Lezama were on mobile patrol along Connector Road, Carlsen Field, when they observed three occupants on board a burgundy Nissan Sylphy vehicle acting suspiciously. PCs Mohammed and Lezama then had cause to stop and search the vehicle in which they allegedly found one square packet of marijuana and a quantity of cash in the amount $TT17,900.
The narcotic find has an estimated street value of $1,000. While placing the men under arrest, one of them managed to escape on foot. The remaining suspects and narcotics were subsequently taken to the Freeport Police Station where the men are expected to be charged for the offence of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. An arrest for the third suspect is imminent. PC Mohammed is leading investigations into this case.
