Two men were arrested, and a quantity of stolen items recovered by officers of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department, following a robbery with violence incident in Arima on Sunday.
According to a police report, at about 3.35 pm, a male victim boarded a silver Nissan Wingroad PH taxi with three male occupants along the Arima Old Road. The victim said that during the journey, two of the men dealt him several blows about the body and relieved him of his cellular phone, his wallet and a bag of groceries.
The victim said the men then dropped him off along Sorzano Street, Arima and drove off.
A report was made and officers conducting investigations into the incident observed the said Wingroad motor-vehicle proceeding along Caroni South Bank Road, at about 4.05 pm on the same date.
The vehicle was intercepted with the assistance of officers of the Arouca CID, resulting in the arrest of two male suspects, and the recovery of the stolen items.
The suspects are a 32-year-old of Laventille, and a 20-year-old of Port of Spain.
Investigations are ongoing.
