Two in court for electronics store robbery

Two men from Maloney appeared at the Arima First Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, both charged with robbery with aggravation.

Two men from Maloney appeared at the Arima First Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, both charged with robbery with aggravation.

JASANE ANTHONY CHARLES, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to two years’ hard labour by Senior Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay.

Meanwhile, DALE LEZAMA, 27, also pleaded guilty to the charge.  However, the Magistrate entered a not guilty plea based on his utterances. He was remanded into custody and is due to reappear in court on April 14th, 2022.

A statement from the Police Service reports that extensive investigations were conducted following a report of an incident of robbery with aggravation at an electronics store located at Farfan Street, Arima, on Friday 11th March 2022.

Two men were arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the incident on Wednesday 16th March 2022.

Investigations were conducted by a team of officers attached to the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID), supervised by Insp. Ward, Sgt. Bissessar and led by PC Seetaram.
