A police anti-crime exercise today has resulted in the seizure of an assault rifle and ammunition, and the arrests of two suspects.
Official police reports state that the exercise in the San Juan Police district occurred between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, today, Sunday 12th April 2020.
It was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thompson coordinated by Insp Bruno, supervised by Cpl. Young and included members of the Western Division Joint Army Patrol Unit.
During the exercise, officers executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at the home of a 22-year-old man of William Street, San Juan, and a 27-year-old man who also was present at the residence at the time.
According to police, the search was conducted in the presence of both men. Officers discovered in the kitchen area one AR 15 assault rifle fitted with a magazine and five rounds ammunition.
Both men were arrested and taken to the Carenage Police Station to be charged, along with the seized items.
Inquiries are ongoing.
