Two men are in hospital following a shooting incident in Arouca early yesterday.
Kernell Williams, 30 and Chea Hutchinson, 29, were among a group of friends at the corner of Perkins and St John Street, Arouca, when a man, who covered his face with a white jersey, approached the group.
The man, who was wearing a black jersey and blue three-quarter pants, fired on the group.
Williams was shot in the shoulder while Hutchinson was shot in the neck.
The gunman fled the scene.
Both were taken to hospital by officers of the Arouca CID who responded to the attack.
Williams was said to be in a stable condition, however, Hutchinson was listed as critical.
In an unrelated matter, two men were arrested and a gun and ammunition were seized following an exercise which was conducted in the St Joseph and Tunapuna Police on Tuesday afternoon.
The officers found a brown coloured pistol and one magazine and four rounds of .45 ammunition after stopping and searching a Blue Nissan AD Wagon along Bowen Street, Tunapuna.
Two men who were in the car – from Morvant and Tunapuna respectively – were arrested.
The AD wagon had been reportedly involved in a robbery in the Chaguanas district and as such the suspects from Morvant were handed over to the Chaguanas CID.
