Investigations are ongoing into a double murder and the wounding of a fire officer, which rocked the Blanchisseuse community on Wednesday night.

According to police, fisherman Clive Joseph 50, of Upper O’Connor Street along with 40-year-old Cervin Bristol also of the same address were shot and killed, while a 36-year-old fire officer who was close to the men, was also shot and injured.

Police said Bristol and Joseph were seated on a wall while the fire officer was standing opposite them when two armed men approached and fired several shots at them. The gunmen then fled from the scene on foot.

The incident took place close to 9 pm.

Police officers were alerted and when they arrived, they saw

Bristol lying motionless on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. They also received information that the fire officer and Joseph were also wounded.

Joseph and the fire officer were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex by the Emergency Health Services ambulance. Joseph was pronounced dead on arrival, while, according to the police, the fire officer allegedly refused to seek medical attention.

Investigations are continuing.
