UNC party supporters at the gates of the party’s headquarters in Couva, this evening.

Disappointed United National Congress supporters stood outside the gates of the party headquarters in Couva, after being told they will not be allowed access to the compound in keeping with social distancing rules.

The supporters said while they understand the need for social distancing, they wanted to be able to view the election results as part of the party group.

While several opted to wait for the results in the carparks surrounding the office, supporter Dave Jaikaran said he would be returning to his Caroni home.

Jaikaran seemed very upset and said he has been visiting the party headquarters, which has shifted several times in the past few years, for most of his adult life to await election results.

Jaikaran said he was told he should visit the office of the candidate for his area instead.
