A young man was found electrocuted on top of an electricity pole this morning, at the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery.

The body reportedly was discovered by Amalgamated Security officers who were on patrol around 9 am along Roble Avenue.

While the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed, police believe it could be a teenager who was reported missing last night.

Police suspect the young man may have snuck onto the compound of the Guaracara Refinery Company Ltd to steal copper.  However, police believe when he got to the top of the pole, he came into contact with the high-tension wires and was electrocuted.

Guardian Media understands one of the youngster’s hands was severed and was found in the grass.  Police speculate that he was not alone but that when he got electrocuted, his accomplices ran off and left him.

Officers of the Gasparillo and Marabella Police Stations were on the scene this morning, as well as a T&TEC crew, along with Petrotrin Police.
