Unidentified man found with throat slit

Police are trying to identify the decomposing corpse of a man who was found with his throat slit in Forest Reserve, Fyzabad Monday.Investigators said it appeared that the man was murdered and his body was dumped a few days ago.A report stated that around 9.20 am, a 30- year-old labourer was cutting grass along the Fr477 location when he got a stench in the area.

He checked and found the body lying on its torso.

The man wore a black long-sleeved jersey and black 3/4 pants. His body was covered with bamboo about 10 feet down a steep decline.The labourer contacted police and PC Sagar and WPC Hospedales of the South Western Division Task Force responded and confirmed the presence of the body.

Insp Daryl Corrie, Cpl Deo, PC Rahim and PC Ramsubhag of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three visited the scene.

The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre.

Barrackpore man missing

Meanwhile, police are searching for 51-year-old Ramesh Roopnarine, who was reported missing on Sunday.A relative told police that they last saw Roopnarine, 51, around 8.30 pm on March 16 at their home along the Rochard Road. When they tried calling him two days later, they got no response. Relatives checked another home in Barrackpore but realised that he left his mobile phone there and he was nowhere around.

His 20-year-old daughter also told relatives that she had no contact with him since he left home.Investigators were told that Ramesh usually left home during the week and would usually return home by Sunday. However, when they checked on Sunday, he had not returned. They are worried that something happened to him and made a report.
