An Arima bar owner and nine patrons have been issued fixed penalty notices totalling $70,000, after being found allegedly breaching a safe zone at a bar in the area.

According to a statement from the T&T Police Service, on Friday officers of the Northern Division Safe Zone Unit and an official of the Ministry of Health, received information that led them to a bar located along Hollis Avenue, Arima. Upon arrival, the officers discovered unvaccinated patrons consuming alcohol on the premises. The nine patrons were fined $5,000 each for failure to comply with requirements for entry into a safe zone under the health regulations.

The owner of the bar was also issued with a $25,000 fine for the failure of the owner/occupier to comply with requirements for entry into a business.
