Just over a week after a gofundme account was set up for Soca artiste Blaxx it has raised almost two thirds of its designated goal.

As of 6 pm yesterday, the drive had raised US$18,903 raised of $30,000 goal.

The page had been set up days after Dawg E Slaughter called for a donation drive for D’Allstars singer after he underwent surgery for his kidneys recently.

Among those who had donated was Deputy Prime Minister of St. Kitts & Nevis, Shawn Richards, who pledged EC$1000 (USD$ 370) in support of the artiste. Richards, who is also the Minister of Culture noted he had aided the development of several Kittian artistes.

So far over 400 people have donated money on the gofundme page.

Blaxx, real name Dexter Stewart, had told Guardian Media that he had been given a second chance after spending three weeks in hospital in relation to the treatment.

He was readmitted to the hospital last week Tuesday, after he again became ill and it was discovered that he had fluid in his lungs. He was kept for observation at Medical Associates in St. Joseph,

His manager Giselle Gellineau-Penrose said he was progressing but they were expecting a further update from doctors on his condition by the weekend.
