Police officers yesterday arrested and charged two men for the offences of shop breaking and larceny, following an extensive search in the Valencia district.
According to official police reports, the search for the men took place on Monday 18th May 2020, between the hours of 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, under the supervision of Sgt Narine, and included officers of the Valencia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Task Force.
Reports are that the officers were following up on leads into a report that on Sunday 3rd May 2020, two men entered the L Family Food Supermarket—located at Eastern Main Road, Valencia—where they stole TT$2,200 and an assortment of cigarettes.
The TTPS reports that through intelligence-led policing, officers went to a house located on Kangalee Street, Valencia, where they found two men who fit the description of the suspects.
The men were taken to the Valencia Police Post, where their ID particulars were recorded. It emerged that their fingerprints matched those found at the crime scene.
Both men, aged 29 years, were jointly charged for the offence of shop breaking and larceny.
