A Valsayn man was scheduled to appear before a Tunapuna Magistrate today, charged with the murder of his cousin, Sheldon Beepath, which occurred on Saturday 11 April.
Police said Ravi Beharry, 22, of Nabbie Street, Bamboo #2, Valsayn, was charged with murder, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Friday.
According to police Beepath, 35, of the same address, was at his home around 2:00 pm, on Friday 10 April when he got into a heated altercation with a male relative.
During the incident, the victim allegedly stabbed the relative in his right shoulder and hand. He, in turn, was stabbed in his shoulder by the relative. The relative then left and returned a short while later with a piece of bamboo and dealt the victim several blows about the body.
Both men refused medical attention after the incident.
Around 9:30 am, on Saturday 11 April the victim’s mother found his body on the living room floor.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accused was arrested on that same date and investigations launched into the incident.
The charge was laid against Beharry, by PC Shiva Maraj, of Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2.
