The number of deaths from COVID-19 has inched closer to 100 with another fatality recorded yesterday.
It took the count to 98.
The Ministry of Health said the person was an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions. The ministry also reported 35 new cases in it’s latest update but said those cases do not represent a 24-hour increase, but it included the results from samples taken between October 17 to 19.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases decreased following the release of 62 people from the ministry’s care.
Six were discharged from public health facilities and 56 were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases.
That brought the total number of people to have recovered from the virus locally to 3,758.
The total number of active cases is 1,477 of which 1,346 are in home self-isolation.
There are 80 patients in hospitals, 51 in step down/transitional facilities, and 369 in state quarantine facilities. (RK)
