Wanted man charged with possession, cultivating cannabis

MICHEAL AWONG, 56, of Diego Martin, who has been wanted by police for the past three years, was arrested yesterday. He had three outstanding Time Allowed Commitment (TAC) warrants. He was also arrested for possession of 131 grammes of cannabis and cultivating38 fully-grown cannabis trees. He was subsequently charged for the offences and is scheduled to appear at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court today.

A wanted man on three outstanding warrants was arrested yesterday and charged for possession of cultivating cannabis. The following is a press release from the TTPS.

MICHEAL AWONG, 56, of Diego Martin, who has been wanted by police for the past three years, was arrested yesterday. He had three outstanding Time Allowed Commitment (TAC) warrants. He was also arrested for possession of 131 grammes of cannabis and cultivating38 fully-grown cannabis trees. He was subsequently charged for the offences and is scheduled to appear at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court today.

The suspect was arrested during an anti-crime exercise in Sangre Grande and Biche. Around 4:45 pm, based on information received, officers proceeded to Oropouche Road, Sangre Grande, where they made the arrest. Charges were laid by PC Nanan.

The exercise, which was conducted between the hours of 4 pm and 8pm, was coordinated by Snr Supt Joseph Chandool, and spearheaded by Ag Sgts Khan and Narine. It included officers from the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF), as well as two members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment (TTR).
