Investigations are continuing into the murder of a 65-year-old man, who was shot while in his vehicle in Arouca, on Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Anthony Farrell, of First Street in Barataria.  Farrell was a retiree from the Water and Sewerage Authority.

According to a police report, at about 7:15 pm, residents of First Street in Five Rivers heard a loud bang as though a car accident had occurred and ran out to the road to learn what had happened.  There, they saw that a Maroon Nissan Navara and a Black Kia Cerato had damage at the front of both vehicles.

The residents also noticed that in the black Kia Cerato, Anthony Farrell lay motionless and unresponsive, slumped behind the steering wheel.

Investigators said they were told that Farrell had people in his vehicle, and it is believed that one of them may have shot him.

Police said residents saw when the occupants exited and ran away.

Residents said when Farrell was shot his vehicle crashed into the Navara.

Police confirmed that they canvassed the area and several CCTV cameras were seen.

Investigators are expected to retrieve the footage and review it.
