Weapons, ammo removed from official Police Commissioner’s residence, Jacob confirms

Deputy Commissioner of Police McDonald Jacob has confirmed that weapons and ammunition that are part of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s assets were removed from the official residence of the Commissioner of Police in St James today.

However, DCP Jacob makes it clear that the removal of these assets is part of standard operating procedures when a handover of property takes place and has denied claims circulating on social media that any warrants were involved.

“Weapons and quantity of ammunition were stored at the residence to be used by the assigned security detail with the responsibility of protecting the former CoP Gary Griffith. The weapons and ammunition have been removed and were conveyed to a secure location because at present no one is residing at the Commissioner’s residence,” a statement by the Police Service said.

Guardian Media has been reliably informed that more than 90 weapons and an undisclosed number of rounds of ammunition said to be well in excess of 1,000, were removed.
