Well-known Central Division cop dies from COVID

Yet another police has lost the fight against COVID-19, leaving the Commissioner of Police and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in mourning.

According to the TTPS, PC Frankie Sammy passed away yesterday at the Couva Medical and Multi Training Facility.

Sammy was last assigned to the TTPS Central Division. He also served previously in the Community Police Secretariat.

The police service said Sammy joined on August 3, 2010 and served with honour for over ten years.

His peers and batch described him as a brilliant mind.

They said that his ideas were always innovative and creative.

At the time of his death PC Sammy was on study leave.

Sammy was from Enterprise, Chaguanas and was well known for his work within the community.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, parents, brothers and sister.

One of Sammy’s colleagues, took to social media where he described Sammy as a “brother and friend from foundation.”

“We grew up together, attended church together, went evening classes together, studied together and passed, we pursued the same profession, we supported each other always, seeked counsel from each other always, now you’re gone just like that,” Sammy’s colleague said.

The colleague added, “I’m convinced that the resurrection is sure and Satan has been raging war against God’s children. I can’t keep up with the amount of deaths that’s happening daily…I’m deeply saddened to say 18315 PC Frankie Sammy, my beloved brother and friend, passed away this morning (Monday) at the Couva Hospital. May his soul forever rest in peace until our Lord Jesus Christ returns,” he added.
