Saturday Soup with Smoked Turkey

½ c yellow split peas (washed)

½ c pumpkin (diced)

6 c water

1 pack Maggi Vegetable Soup it Up

1 pack Maggi All Purpose Seasoning

½ lb Smoked Turkey (cut into bite size pieces)

1 small onion (diced)

1 medium carrot (diced)

2 medium sweet potatoes (diced)

10 small ochroes

4 pimentos (chopped)

2 ears corn (each cut into 4 pieces)

1 pack Maggi Coconut Milk

¼ c green seasoning

¼ c cooking margarine

Variation – ½ c flour + ¼ c cornmeal kneaded with ⅛ c water to form dumpling dough (optional)


  1. In a pressure cooker add washed split peas and pumpkin. Top with water and put the lid on. Cook for 15 mins after it begins to pressurize
  2. Carefully release pressure and remove lid from pressure cooker. Add Maggi Soup It Up, Maggi All Purpose, onion and Smoked Turkey. Allow to simmer for 10 mins
  3. Add onion, carrot and sweet potatoes. Allow to cook for further 5 mins
  4. Stir in Ochroes, coconut milk and green seasoning. If using dumplings, roll and cut them out and add at this point
  5. When ochroes are soft, stir in cooking margarine
  6. Taste and assess consistency of soup, water can be added if it is too thick. Enjoy hot!
