A 26-year-old woman from Brazil Village believed she had almost the same fate as Andrea Bharatt when she was taken forcibly to Heights of Aripo instead to her workplace, on Sunday morning.

The woman, who became fearful for her life, took out a knife and slashed the driver of what seemed to be a licensed taxi (H-car) across the face.

According to a police report, at about 7:10 am on Sunday 14th February 2021, the victim boarded a taxi, a silver Tiida partial plates HCB, at the corner of Woodford Street and Broadway in Arima and requested to be taken to her workplace at E-Teck in Cumuto.

Whilst proceeding along the Aripo Road, she requested several times that the driver drop her off along the roadway, but he refused to stop.

The victim became fearful and inflicted a wound on the left side of the driver’s face with a knife that she had in her possession.  The driver then stopped the vehicle and dealt the victim several blows to her face.

Guardian Media understands the victim managed to exit the vehicle and started running.  However, she was pursued by the driver who attempted to grab her purse.  The victim, managed to escape, though, and was taken to the Arima Police by a passing motorist where a report was made.

The victim was subsequently taken to the Arima Health Facility to seek medical attention.

A search was made for the vehicle and driver of the silver Tiida, with partial plates HCB in the Arima district and environs, but that proved to be futile.

PC Cheeyou is investigating.
