A woman was arrested and charged yesterday by officers of the Child Protection Unit for one count of child cruelty.
According to police reports, on July 11th the Child Protection Unit, received a report, where it was alleged that a minor was dealt several blows to her body with a broom, which caused injury to her shoulders, forearms, wrist and belly.
WPC Quashie-Gay conducted enquires, during which the child was removed from the home and place in the care of her father. On July 22nd, the suspect was arrested and charged for one count of child cruelty and is scheduled to appear virtually at the Princes Town Magistrate today.
The exercise was spearheaded by W/Supt (Ag) George and Asp Sookdeo and supervised by W/Insp (Ag) Francis.
