A 41-year-old woman currently is assisting Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) detectives regarding the death of her husband, which occurred yesterday, Friday July 23rd.

An official statement from the Police Service reports that at 4:30 pm on July 23rd, officers of the Maraval Police Station responded to a distress call in which it was reported to police that there was a domestic dispute at a residence in Catalina Courts, Saddle Road, Maraval.

Upon their arrival at the scene, first responders allegedly observed a woman lying next to a man who appeared to be motionless. The woman reportedly made certain utterances which arose the officers’ suspicion.  They later arrested her pending further investigations.

The woman’s husband was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the HBI Region One, who took lead of the investigation, currently are interrogating the suspect at the Central Police Station, Port-of-Spain.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s (TTPS) Victims and Witness Support Unit also is providing counselling support and psycho-social intervention at this time, as the ordeal is said to have been witnessed by two minors.
