A 48-year-old woman was shot and wounded while at her home in Barataria on Wednesday night.
Police said they believe that it was a “hit” called on her life as she is said to be mentally ill and known for roaming the streets and entering people’s private premises.
According to a police report, at about 7.50 pm the woman, whose name was not released, was in the living room of her home when a masked man stormed in and opened fire on her.
The incident occurred at Upper Ninth Avenue. The gunman then escaped. The woman was shot twice.
Neighbours, on hearing the gunshots, went to her assistance and took her to the Eric Williams Medical Complex where she was treated. (RDR)
