Bridge construction works at Morvant Junction currently are ongoing, which require south-bound motorists to take an alternative route, because of the temporary traffic disruption between the Eastern Main Road and the Priority Bus Route.

The Ministry recommends that motorists use the alternative route—all traffic from the Lady Young and Eastern Main Road heading in a southerly direction to the Priority Bus Route and to Maritime Roundabout will be diverted onto the first phase of the bridge widening.

The Ministry is asking motorists to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers at the site, and to be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site.  In addition, motorists should drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone and comply with instructions from Police Officers on site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic.

The overall Morvant Junction Upgrade Project is being executed by the Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiency (P.U.R.E.) Unit and extends from the Lady Young Avenue, off Lady Young Road, to the Maritime Roundabout.

It is expected to be complete in April 2022 and is being executed in three main phases:

1.   Between Maritime Roundabout and the Priority Bus Route

2.   Between the Priority Bus Route and the Eastern Main Road – Bridge Reconstruction

3.   Between the Eastern Main Road and Lady Young Avenue
