The Emperor Valley Zoo will be closed from today for one week as part of a move to reduce the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
The Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago has issued the following statement:
The Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago (ZSTT) in exercising its social responsibility to assist with the control of the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), is announcing the closure of the Emperor Valley Zoo for one week starting tomorrow, Sunday 15th March, 2020.
President of the ZSTT, Gupte Lutchmedial said that the decision was not an easy one but recognising the popularity of the Zoo as a destination for both nationals and non-nationals, this is the most responsible prevention measure that can be taken at this time.
The ZSTT is committed to working in partnership with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago as this country takes the necessary measures to address this pandemic.
The ZSTT is expressing its appreciation in advance to its guests for their understanding and cooperation and will keep the public apprised as the situation changes.
